Did you know that the best method of cold and flu prevention is to wash your hands AND avoid touching your face? ⠀ ⠀ Covid-19 is NOT an airborne virus, meaning it isn’t hanging in the air ready to be picked up. It needs to be in a wet environment such as your nose, throat and lungs. It can be transferred from respiratory particles from a cough or sneeze to another wet surface or a surface and quickly transferred to another wet environment. So by washing your hands and not touching your face those viral particles have no chance! ⠀ ⠀ Masks need to be only worn by the sick to trap viral particles from spreading. Healthy individuals wearing a mask only creates a false sense of security and may create another damp environment for the virus to land. ⠀ ⠀ Improve your immune system with a healthy lifestyle, as well as extra immune support if needed such as probiotics, vitamin C, D3, zinc and immune herbs. ⠀ ⠀ #naturopathicdoctor #immunesupport #immunehealth #foodthatheals #immuneboost #dartmouthnaturopath #viralawareness

You definitely can't hide who you really hard with family around so you're authentic self easily comes out. I am embracing it! ⠀ ⠀ The weird thing is is that I tend to mumble more with her (and close family) but I think its because I am much more relaxed and don't have to be "on" like you sometimes do with strangers or at work. ⠀ ⠀ What weird quirk comes out for you when you are with family? Let me know in the comments.⠀ *⠀ *⠀ *⠀ #naturopathicdoctor #adrenalfatigue #staycation #dartmouthnaturopath #mindbodyconnection #mindbodyhealth #mindfulnessmonday #anxietyfree #stressmanagement

Food Friday - Local Gut Health Haul! ⠀ ⠀ I love using food as medicine to help heal the gut and these are some of my favourite probiotic rich foods found around Halifax. ⠀ ⠀ Sometimes supplements are necessary to make bigger corrections for the gut but eventually the goal is to incorporate foods into your diet that help maintain good gut health. Whether it be pre-biotic rich foods with good fibre, gut healing foods such a bone broth or fermented foods to provide probiotics. ⠀ ⠀ 1️⃣ @Goodmorekombucha - I always pick ginger...every time. I’ve already had some of this bottle as you can see and that’s all I’ll have for today. About 1/4 a day is great!⠀ ⠀ 2️⃣ @cabbagepatchkimchi - I started buying this several years ago when she was just selling it at the Halifax north end market and have been hooked ever since. 1 tbsp as a side with eggs or throw some in a stirfry to add a little spice. ⠀ ⠀ 3️⃣ @theculturedcoconut - I love this stuff and my patients know it! 4 trillion probiotics in 1 tbsp. That is a lot so start with a small amount if you don’t take probiotics. Add to smoothies, mix with yogurt, take a tbsp (or sip from the bottle like I do!). ⠀ ⠀ I recommend mixing these up throughout the week. You don’t need it all in 1 day to maintain good gut health. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #dartmouthnaturopath #naturopathicdoctor #healthygut #healthyguthappylife #leakygut #leakygutsyndrome #bloatedbelly #ibs #foodasmedicine #dartmouth #halifaxns #sibo #gutbrainskinaxis
